I would like to express my gratitude to the kind and generous
strangers who showed us random acts of kindness during our cycle
tour in Ethiopia. Their generosity humbled me and made me
appreciate the goodness in people.
I am also grateful to Ernest Markwood for permitting me to use his
photographs in this book.
A special thanks to my sister Amanda, who diligently kept my journal
entries and photos well-organized over the years. Without her
support, I would not have been able to document my travels.
I owe a debt of gratitude to my friend Val Abrahamse, who managed
