COMBAT SPORTS
In the presence history of Combat Sports on the program
of the European Universities Championships,Karate
was the first sport added, backdating in 2003 with the
first Championship being held. Karate was organized
biannually as the only combat sport until 2009
when it was joined by the first European Universities
Championship in Taekwondo. Later in 2011, the first
European Universities Championship in Judo also became
part of the sports program of EUSA Championships.
In 2019, these three sports were joined by the first
European Universities Championship in Kickboxing and then
it was officially when these four sports were merged in the
first European Universities Combat Sports Championship,
organized in Zagreb, Croatia. In 2023, this championship
came back to the same location in the same form as
one event, showcasing great attendance and sucess.
