Qumran in 1947. Columns 8–10, reproduced here, contain Isaiah 8:8–11:12. Dated to

2. Interior of head tefillin capsule of the first
century ce, probably from Qumran. Made of
calf leather, it measures only 13mm × 22mm.
The four folded strips in the lower
compartments contain passages from the
Pentateuch written in minuscule script. - A tiny silver scroll from around 600 bce
inscribed with a portion of the priestly
blessing in Num. 6:24–6. It was found in a
burial chamber at Ketef Hinnom in Jerusalem
and probably used as an amulet. The writing
on it constitutes the oldest surviving text from
the Hebrew Bible.
