The Gray’s on Deck youth base-

ball team is excited to announce a

community-wide pop bottle and can

fundraiser to support their upcoming

trip to see the Chicago White Sox

vs Oakland A’s. This fundraiser is

a crucial step in helping the young

athletes achieve their dream of expe-

riencing professional baseball up

close, said spokesperson Brittney

Dowdy.

The Gray’s on Deck team is col-

lecting pop bottles and cans from

local residents and businesses. The

proceeds from recycling these items

will go directly towards funding the

team’s trip, which includes transpor-

tation, for the team and families.

Returnables are being collected

Evans Park in Battle Creek through

June 22. Collection times are

thanks to all community members for

their support, said Dowdy.

“Together, we can make this trip a

reality for our young athletes,” said

Dowdy.

Gray’s on Deck was created to pro-

vide kids – especially inner-city kids

• the opportunity

to get involved in baseball.

“We believe every child can

achieve greatness with opportunity,

hard

work, and dedication,” said Dowdy.

“We offer the opportunity for urban

youth to do just that – participate in a

sport that teaches so much about life

lessons.”
