Hundreds of family, friends and
Harper Creek High School alumni
gathered on Friday, May 31 at
Harper Creek stadium to witness
the commencement of the Class of
2024.
The program started with Principal
Ed Greenman, Jr. acknowledging
the event and introducing staff and
welcoming all in attendance.
Greenman then introduced the first
speaker of the event, Senior Mallory
Flanders, Student Council President
and one of the 203 graduating class
members.
During Flanders’ speech, she
spoke to her peers about reflection,
but also the path ahead.
“Too often, we are thinking about
what is in store for us in the future
and not soaking in what is right in
front of us,” Flanders said.
Sean Etheridge, a Distinguished
Alumni Award winner and an alum-
nus of Harper Creek, 1996, was next
to take the podium and share his
wishes to the graduating class.
He shared many memories of his
high school years, but also of his
college years.
“You will make your own choices.
So you need to know that you’ll
need to live with them,” he said.
“This is the moment that you decide
on which path to take when you
leave this field, and unfortunately,
there’s no street signs.”
Etheridge closed, saying, “Always
work on having a strong support
network because you’re going to
need it.”
