Rebecca
(Becky) Kay
Moser
peacefully
passed away on
June 8, 2024,
after a long and
courageous battle
with Covid.
Becky was
born in Battle
Creek, Michigan,
to Earl A. Moser
and Helen
Durakovich
Moser Easterly. Becky’s parents divorced
when she was an infant and she was
raised by her mother.
Becky graduated from Battle Creek
Central in 1976, where she was part of the
homecoming court. She went on to attend
Kellogg Community College and to work
at Adventure Travel.
She soon moved to Dallas and contin-
ued her career in travel. She retired from
Carlson Wagonlit Travel as a VIP travel
consultant to the Ericsson Company in
September 2023.
Becky was a person of many passions
and a love of life. She loved living in sunny
Dallas and driving around it in her con-
vertible. She loved the sun and tanning

by the association’s pool, or even in her
own driveway. Her favorite sunny spot was
Aruba, where she vacationed with her
friends. She loved the Dallas Cowboys, for
which she had season tickets. She was
an avid fan of the U of M Wolverine foot-
ball team. She knew her teams well and
could talk smack about any other team!
She loved music and traveled around the
country and the world to see Adele, Neil
Diamond and others. She absolutely loved
to travel. She traveled extensively, and just
in the last year had been to Dubai, Las
Vegas, Iceland, Michigan, Florida, Hawaii,
Tahti, New Zealand and Australia. She
loved animals, especially horses, dolphins
and golden retrievers. Most of all, she
loved her friends in Dallas, Battle Creek
and around the world.
She was predeceased by her parents;
her mother’s second husband, Dale
Easterly; her aunts; and a cousin.
She is survived by an uncle, Mike
Durock; loving cousins; and many close
and special friends.
Cremation has taken place. A celebra-
tion of life will be planned for a later date.
If interested, memorial contributions may
be made to a charity of Becky’s choice,
which are listed on the Mulkey-Mason
Funeral Home website.

Lewis W. Reed II, 80, lost his battle with liver cancer and
went to sleep in Jesus on Thursday, June 13, 2024, and is
awaiting the resurrection. Ecclesiastes 9:5, 1 Thessalonians
4:13-18. Lewis had been a member of the Urbandale Seventh-
day Adventist Church since 1974. John 3:17.
Lewis was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 22, 1944,
to Lewis Winfield and Melvy (Irish) Reed. Lewis’ first 5 years of
education were at Maple Grove Elementary School. Then the
family moved to Haslett, Mich., where he attended school at
Haslett High School from 5th grade through 11th. He moved to
Lansing, Mich., completing his senior year and graduated from
Everett High School in 1962. Though he didn’t graduate with
his class at Haslett, they treated him as if he had. They invited
him to all class reunions and made him feel like he was one
of them even to this day. Lewis recently said, “It’s hard to express how much that has
meant to me. ...Viking Strong says Jim Bartow.” Thank you!
After high school, Lewis joined the United States Air Force, serving 3 years, 8 months
and 5 days. Three years were spent at a base near Metz, France. His job was electri-
cal power production at a radar site nearby. While there, he met Annette L. Mallen.
Her mother, Louise, was French and her father, Derrick Mallen, was British. Lewis and
Annette hit it off and dated for the last 18 months of his tour. When Lewis got back home
to Lansing, he got out of the Air Force and got a job driving for UPS at $3.03 an hour,
working for three years in the Lansing area. Then he and Annette moved to Battle Creek,
where he spent the bulk of his life working in neurodiagnostics at the hospital. His final
retirement was in January 2016.
As soon as he could, he sent for Annette and they were married on July 16, 1966.
They were married for 52 years until death took Annette on July 29, 2018. Annette and
Lewis had friends Tim and Linda Healey. Tim died two weeks after Annette. Linda and
Lewis started very slowly to text and infrequent phone calls, which gradually increased
for two years. They became good friends and one day in June 2020, they spent the
day together at her son-in-law’s birthday party and things seemed to change. They were
married December 24, 2020. They believed God brought them together. They just had
their third wedding anniversary on December 24, 2023. Lewis always said, “I had some
bumps in my road, but overall I’ve been blessed with a good and happy life.”
Lewis enjoyed building things, remodeling, demolition, and he LOVED going to the
Mackinac Bridge every chance he had. He loved to hand out Bible tracts to anyone who
would take one, watch the Dallas Cowboys win five Super Bowls, and be a substitute
teacher at Battle Creek Academy, which he did for over 10 years. He was willing to sub
for K-12 and always had lots of fun with the kids. During his time as a substitute, he
developed a heartfelt appreciation for the teachers and staff for the tough job they do
and how well they do it!
Lewis was preceded in death by his first wife, Annette L. (Mallen) Reed; parents; and
grandparents.
He is survived by his second wife, Linda Healey Reed; brother Delmas (Millie) Reed of
Lansing; daughters Laura VanOrsdal and Rebekah Reed; grandsons Austin and Jacob
Reed of Battle Creek; numerous cousins all over the United States; and many good
friends: Rod Dunneback of Lansing, Wayne and Sandy Johnson of Battle Creek, Paul
and Kim Bessler of Climax, Phil and Phyllis Essex of Battle Creek, and Scott and Tina
Burke of Battle Creek.
At this time, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Lewis’ life is currently
being planned and will be announced at a later date.
Lewis requested that any donations be made to Battle Creek Academy.
May God bless all of you!

Ricci A.
Rentfro,
“Ric” to
his friends and
family, passed
away peace-
fully on June
12, 2024, in
Dowling, Mich.,
after a valiant
fight with pancre-
atic cancer and
a long battle with
Parkinson’s dis-
ease. Born Sept.
16,1952, in Battle
Creek, Mich.,
Ric’s zest for life
and his enduring
spirit left an indel-
ible mark on all
who knew him.
Ric gradu-
ated from Battle
Creek Central
High School,
Class of 1970.
He continued his
education at Kellogg Community College,
where he earned an associate degree
and later at Nazareth College, where he
completed his B.A. in business adminis-
tration. His commitment to education was
further demonstrated by his attainment
of the Chartered Life Underwriter and
Chartered Financial Consultant insurance
certifications. These qualifications paved
the way for a successful career where
Ric’s expertise and integrity were highly
valued by colleagues and clients alike.
He was employed by Federal Home Life
Insurance Company, Alexander Hamilton
Life Insurance and Hamilton Marketing

Group.
Ric loved to fish for bass on Bristol
Lake; the ones that got away were always
the biggest. He could cast a line for hours
trying to nab that big one. That is where
he felt most at peace. His man cave and
pole barn were where he could tinker on
various projects like his fish sculptures
made from wooden crutches or side
tables from pallets. The perfect place to
escape from his wife!
He is survived by his wife of 35 years,
Dena (Mitchell) Rentfro; sisters Bonnie
Collins, Leslie (Marv) Morgan and Audrey
McCarthy; brother Jim (Pam) Bishop; chil-
dren Jeff (Dani) Wilsey and Chad (Joan)
Wilsey; grandkids Jathan, Taylor and
Andi Wilsey, Payton Wilsey, Jake (Megan)
Barton, and Stefani (Colin) Pesl; four
beautiful great-grands; many nieces and
nephews and greats. Ric always said he
knew he was a “great” uncle. You know he
loved you all. If you thought you were the
special one, you probably were!
Preceding him were his mother, Janithe
Rentfro, and his stepdad, Jim Bishop Sr.,
who taught him what the value of working
hard meant. No matter if you were a half
or step relative, you were his family.

FUNERAL ETIQUETTE
WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP LATER?
In the days and months to come,
the family will continue to need
your support. Try to write or call on
a regular basis. Continue to include
them in your social plans, they will
let you know when they are ready to
participate. It is also nice to remember
the family on special occasions during
the first year following the death.
Don’t worry about bringing up the
pain and emotion of the loss, they are
well aware of that. By remembering
such occasions as wedding
anniversaries and birthdays, you
are not remembering the death, but
reaffirming that a life was lived.
