ANNIVERSARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Dennis and Linda Harrington of
Battle Creek will celebrate their 60th
anniversary on June 20.
The couple has three daughters,
Shelley (Todd) Young, Stacie
(Gene) Mead and Sonia Harrington
(deceased, 1996); and grandchil-
dren Kylee (Jake) Galloway of
Battle Creek, Taylor Young of
Grand Rapids, Kambree Mead of
Battle Creek and Tori Young of
Kalamazoo.
Dennis Harrington and the former
Linda Hooper were married June 20,
Wayne and Catherine (Katy) Smith
of Battle Creek will be celebrating
their 70th wedding anniversary.
Wayne married the former
Catherine D’Water on June 19, 1954,
at North Athens Baptist Church in
Pine Creek on 2-Mile Road.
The couple were high school
sweethearts and married right after
graduation when he was 18 and she
was 17.
Wayne is retired from the Kellogg
Co.; Katy is a homemaker.
They have four children, Rod
(Angie) Smith, Linda (Dave) Ebert,
Jeff Smith, Mike (Darleene) Smith
Harringtons celebrate 60th anniversary

He is a retired business owner, and
in his spare time likes to fish, camp,
work out in his garage, and spend
time with family and friends.
She works at Grace Health, and in
her leisure time likes to fish, camp,
do puzzles on her tablet, and spend
time with family and friends.
Smiths celebrating 70th anniversary
and an honorary daughter, Cindy
Nobles with Ronald (SI) Corey.
They have 19 grandchildren, 21
great-grandchildren and four great-
great-grandchildren.
They’ll be celebrating their anni-
versary on June 22 at their home
from 1-4 p.m., and the event will be
hosted by their family.

The first free bicycle giveaway to kids in grades 3-6 organized by community
activist Bobby Holley took place Saturday, June 15 at Seelye Kia of Battle
Creek. Youths were eligible for a free bike after turning in essays on “Why
Do I Need a Bike?” More bike giveaways are also scheduled this summer
on dates and at sites to be determined. Funds to purchase the bicycles are
raised when Holley makes musical appearances at local businesses, and also
by donations. The next event to give bikes to kids in grades two through six is
this Saturday, June 22 at Battle Creek Tile & Mosaic, 1338 W. Michigan Ave.
