The 2024 Kanoe the Kazoo event
schedule is now available for all pad-
dlers.
“This is the 21st anniversary of
the Kanoe the Kazoo and paddling
trips will be available in Albion,

Kanoe the Kazoo schedule now available

Paddlers enjoy a previous event. This year’s schedule for Kanoe the Kazoo
is now available.

The Battle Creek event is set for
Saturday, July 13.

Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and New
Richmond,” said spokesperson Patty
Hoch-Melluish.
The Battle Creek event is Saturday,
July 13, from 9:30 a.m. to noon on
the Battle Creek River from Emmett
Street to Carlyle Street.
Paddling events are coordinated
by the Kalamazoo River Watershed
Council, with various organizations
hosting events throughout the water-
shed.
The goal is to get people out on the
water to enjoy local rivers and lakes,
said Hoch-Melluish.
Paddlers must bring their own
kayak or canoe.
A free lunch will be provided to
registered paddlers at the takeout at
Torti Taco, and they will receive a
T-shirt and shuttle to the launch site.
All events are free, but pre-registra-
tion is required.
To view the schedule and register
for a paddle, people can go online

A new photography exhibit on
display at Kellogg Community
College this summer is showcasing
nearly 50 landscape photos shot by
KCC students in Iceland.
The photographs were
shot during an 11-day
class trip to the country
as part of the ART 220:
Landscape Photography
course in May.
Subjects include stun-
ning views of glaciers, ice
caves, mountainous hills,
rocky beaches and other
primarily natural native
landscape scenes.
“Iceland: An ART 220:
Landscape Photography
Class Exhibition” will
run through Aug. 29 in
the Davidson Visual and
Performing Arts Center’s
Eleanor R. and Robert A.
DeVries Gallery, on cam-
pus at 450 North Ave. in
Battle Creek.
The exhibit is free and
open to the public during
regular summer gallery
hours, which are 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. Mondays through
Thursdays.

A closing reception – also free and
open to the public – will be held with
the artists from 4-6 p.m. Thursday,
Aug. 29, in the gallery.
