Cathleen
Rae Carpenter
Triestram
passed
away in Battle
Creek, Michigan,
at Bickford
Assisted Living
on June 22, 2024.
She was born
in Portsmouth,
Virginia, to
Raymond and Ellen
(Scott) Carpenter
on Dec. 20, 1951.
She graduated from Highland High School in
North Highland, California, in 1970 and married
Gary Triestram shortly after. Although the mar-
riage ended in divorce, they had two children
and remained friends to the end.
Cathleen started a career at the Federal
Center in Battle Creek soon after settling here.
She started in the summer of 1989 and retired
in 2007. She was outspoken and was not afraid
to speak her mind, even to her supervisor. She
had a “catch phrase” she seemed to use for
everyone that displeased her at that moment.
You would get told, “Bite me.”
She did a lot of traveling while she was
growing up with a Marine father and later as an
Air Force wife. She found that she loved Alaska

and loved to talk to anyone that had been there
or was from there. Although her address was in
Battle Creek, Michigan, she still loved the South
with all her heart. Just mention anything from
the South and her drawl would become more
evident. She loved to tell stories of her life in
the South. She was very proud of her Southern
heritage.
She will be deeply missed by the family that
she leaves behind: son Gary (Carrie) Triestram;
daughter Jacki (Nicholas) Van De Moortel,
grandchildren Danyel (Tyler) Godfrey, Devin
(Cara) Triestram, Cole (Kala) Schlyer, Landon
Triestram, Braylon Van De Moortel, Addison
Van De Moortel, Shawn Triestram; seven great-
grandchildren; and her beloved chihuahua,
Harry.
She will be joining those that left before her:
parents Raymond and Ellen Carpenter; sisters
Cindy (Don) Krueger, Connie Carpenter and
Carolyn (Tony) Clark; and her favorite fur baby,
Pepper.
Cremation has taken place and there will
be a memorial service on July 9, 2024, at
2 p.m. at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service,
Battle Creek, Michigan.
Arrangements by Baxter Funeral & Cremation
Service. (269) 788-9800/www.baxterfuneral.
