The Calhoun County Road
Department is advising the public that
work has begun on North Avenue
from Roosevelt Avenue to Morgan
Road in Bedford and Pennfield town-
ships.
This approximately .5 mile section
of road will be milled and resur-
faced with an overlay of 2 inches
of Hot Mix Asphalt, concrete curb
repairs, and sidewalk and ramp work,
said Lynn Meikle, Calhoun County
communications coordinator.
Work will be completed using
single lane closures without detouring
traffic.
Construction is expected to last

approximately 3-5 weeks, sub-
ject to necessary changes in construc-
tion schedules.
This joint project with the City
of Battle Creek will cost approxi-
mately $626,000 and is funded
partially by federal aid from the
Surface Transportation Block Grant
administrated by the Battle Creek
Area Transportation Study (BCATS),
which covers nearly 82 percent of the
project costs.
The remaining 18 percent is cov-
ered by the Calhoun County Road
Department.
The primary contractor for this
project is Lakeland Asphalt.
