Archie “Rob”
Caraway, 68,
of Battle Creek,
Michigan, went to
be with his Lord
and Savior on
Thursday morning,
July 4, 2024. He
was born in Battle
Creek on November
23, 1955, the son
of Archie and
Margie Ellen (Hall)
Caraway. He
graduated from
Pennfield High School and retired in 2005
from Kellogg Community College after
more than 30 years of service.
Rob is survived by his son, Nathan
Caraway; his granddaughter, Brianna
Caraway; his sisters, Charlotte (David)
Neve and Vicki (Greg) Buck; his brother,


Rick Caraway; his nieces and nephews,
Brandon (Beth) Buck, Jessica (Pete) Staib,
Jared (Kaley) Buck, Cameron (Kristen)
Buck and Allison (Jonathon) Barnes; and
eight grandnieces and nephews.
Rob was preceded in death by his par-
ents; a nephew, Matthew Neve; and his
best friend, Pastor Mike Sparks.
Rob attended Resurrection Power
Ministries in Battle Creek. He enjoyed
watching old Westerns and spending time
with his cat, Lilly.
A private family service has been held.

James Rodney
Erskine, 64, of
Battle Creek, MI,
passed away
Saturday, July
6, 2024, at his
home. He was
born August 21,
1959, in Battle
Creek, MI, and
raised by his
grandma Ferral
Crigger.
He married
Pauleen Mann on March 17, 1985, in
Battle Creek, MI. He and Pauleen enjoyed
43 blissful years together. Pauleen was
Jim’s world. He loved her and his fam-


ily with all of his being and made sure
Pauleen was taken care of each and
every day.
Jim’s hobbies included blacksmith-
ing, gold prospecting and watching old
Westerns. He will truly be missed by all
who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Pauleen;
children Jessica Erskine, Anthony (Amber)
Erskine and Alan (Ryann) Mayo; grand-
children AJ, Charles, Emmet and Parker.
Per Jim’s request, cremation will be
conducted, and no formal services will be
held.

Sally was a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer
and enjoyed plaster crafting. Sally was
united in marriage on November 27, 1976,
to Harold L. Hansen. He preceded her in
death on December 14, 1995. She was
also preceded in death by her parents;
brother Robert Kerns Jr.; and a sister,
Barbara Fairbanks.
Surviving are her brothers Tom (Sandy)
Kerns, John Kerns; and several nieces
and nephews.
The family received friends on Tuesday,
July 16, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at Richard
A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation
Services, with Recitation of The Rosary
following at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian
Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, Rev. Jacob Thomas,
Celebrant. Interment followed the Mass
at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kalamazoo,
Michigan, the daughter of Robert and
Nelda (Umphrey) Kerns Sr.
Sally graduated from St. Philip Catholic
Central High School in 1957, then went
on to receive her nursing degree from
Jefferson School of Practical Nursing.
She was previously employed as an LPN
at Community Hospital, Leila Hospital,
Calhoun County Convalescent Center,
Westland Convalescent Center, Marian
Burch Adult Day Care, Evergreen Manor
and Heritage Assisted Living, from which

Barton “Bart”
Hollman, 61,
of Battle Creek,
Mich., passed
away peacefully on
Wednesday, July
10, 2024, at his
home with his fam-
ily. Bart was born
September 5, 1962,
the son of the late
Kenneth L. Hollman
and the late Linda
L. (Pellin) Wirt.
Bart attended Battle Creek Public Schools for
most of his childhood and was a 1981 graduate
of Pennfield High School. Bart also took class-
es throughout the years at Kellogg Community
College to become an accountant. Bart was
a wiz with numbers. After graduating high
school, Bart worked for many years at differ-
ent factories in the area and The Dixie Market.
His most rewarding job was working as sup-
port staff at the Haven of Rest Life Recovery
Program in Battle Creek, where he was a 2010
graduate himself. It was important to Bart to
serve as a mentor to others and to give back
to the program. Bart had such a kind heart and


would give anyone the shirt off his back.
Bart was an exceptional athlete, participating
in many sports throughout his life. His proud-
est moment was when he bowled a perfect
300 game. Bart enjoyed traveling, spending
time with his family and friends, and attending
sporting events, especially those of his nieces
and nephews. Everyone definitely knew when
Bart was in the stands. Bart had a passion for
watching sports and was a faithful U of M,
Baltimore Orioles and Green Bay Packers fan.
Bart is survived by his siblings, Kimberly
Hollman, Tammy (Andy) Grimes, Hilary Madery,
Michael (Emily) Hollman and Julie Harris;
nieces and nephews Jake, Anastasia, Emilee,
Jonathan, Meg, Casey, Hannah, Ty and Grace,
who lovingly called him “Uncle Bossy”; and
special cousins Ken and Dawn Larsen.
A service will be held for Bart at the North
Avenue Church of God on August 17, 2024,
at noon, with a celebration of life luncheon to
follow.

tions may be made to the Haven of Rest Life

Star Ann
MacBeth, 68, of
Plainwell, passed
away July 7,
2024, following a
brief illness com-
plicated by acute
myeloid leukemia.
Star was born
June 13, 1956, in
Concord, Mich.,
to Donald and
Virginia (Coburn)
McKeague. She
graduated from Lakeview High School,
Kellogg Community College and New York
University. Star worked as a nurse for over
20 years in local hospitals and nursing
homes before retiring in 2005.
In retirement, she enjoyed hobbies such
as deer hunting, camping, restoring fur-
niture, and working on the family home
alongside her loving husband, David,
whom she married in 1991.

Star is survived by her husband, David
MacBeth; her five sons, Jamie (Keri)
Bethel, Scott Bethel of Glasgow, Ky.,
Steven (Beckie) Bethel of Windsor, Vt.,
Ryan MacBeth of Jackson, Mich., and
Corey MacBeth of Asheville, N.C.; as
well as her 11 grandchildren, Alex, Cris,
Jacie, Shawn, Lin, Kaitlynn, Erik, Tylor,
Jacob, Audrey, and Ava. She also leaves
behind her siblings Delma Blunt, Donald
McKeague, Robert McKeague, Brenda
McKeague, Linda Bramble and Carol
McKeague. She will be deeply missed by
her cherished dogs, Molly and Rosie.
Star was preceded in death by her par-
ents, her sister Marietta, and her brother
David.
Star’s family received friends on
Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 11 a.m., with
her memorial service conducted at noon.
