The two-person team of Larry Roan
and Stu Hendricks were the main
event winners at the Farley-Estes
Draw Any Doubles shuffleboard tour-
nament that was hosted by the Battle
Creek Shuffleboard Club on Monday,
July 8 on the courts located near the
front entrance to B.C.’s Bailey Park.
Roan and Hendricks are both mem-
bers of the B.C. Shuffleboard Club –
a club that’s set to host the Michigan
Shuffleboard Association State
Tournament for the 10th straight year
this coming July 29-Aug. 2.
All interested players are welcome
to compete in the state tourney, no
matter one’s skill level.
The B.C. Shuffleboard Club
also hosts free drop-in play every
Monday, Wednesday and Friday
starting at 10 a.m.; it welcomes expe-
rienced and novice participants (with
those new to the sport being able to
check shuffleboard out with provided
equipment at any time while getting


free instruction); it plays in home and
away regular-season tourneys; and its
club dues are $10 per season.

With the Farley-Estes tourney hav-
ing been played July 8, also on the
B.C. Shuffleboard Club’s schedule
prior to the state tourney were a
Belding Draw Any Doubles event
this past Monday (July 15), and
then an upcoming Caro Draw Any
Doubles events on July 24.
Aside from the annual member-
ship fee of $10, the cost to play in
all other tourneys (including the state
tourney) is an additional $10 per
event.
Following immediately is the
BCSC’s overall schedule for the
remainder of July and through the
end of August. Note that drop-in play
will continue into September and
October as weather permits.

Then, top results from recent tour-
ney action will appear.

  • July 29-30: MSA State
    Tournament, Amateur M/L Singles,
    8 a.m. Note: The second date listed is
    for if-necessary rain date purposes.

  • July 30-31: MSA State
    Tournament, Amateur M/L Doubles,
    8 a.m.

  • July 31-Aug. 1: MSA State
    Tournament, State Unrestricted (ama-
    teur and/or professional) M/L Singles,
    8 a.m.

  • July 31: Annual MSA state meet-
    ing, 9 a.m.

  • Aug. 1-2: MSA State Tournament,
    Unrestricted (amateur and/or pro)
    M/L Doubles, 8 a.m.

  • Aug. 10: Davison Draw Any
    Doubles, 10 a.m.

  • Aug. 15-16: Albion Draw Any
    Doubles, 8 a.m.
