own problems in life. We want the
kids to know that no matter how
much money they make or which
community you’re from, you can stay
away from problems if you have the
right focus and determination in life.”
Out on the field, Evans – along
with some of his assistants plus BCC
coaches – the ran the youths through
drills.
Evans, by the way, hails from
Indianapolis and Ben Davis High;
at U-M from 2016-20 as a run-
ning back he had 320 carries for

1,795 yards and 15 touchdowns and
caught 49 passes for 479 yards and
two more TDs; he was drafted in
the sixth round of the 2021 draft by
the Cincinnati Bengals; and he is
now both a running back and a kick
returner for Cincinnati.
Said Matthews: “Doing these
camps, we just want kids to know
that there are a lot of people out there
that want to help a student-athlete
and care about them. Kids should
know that, whether they’re playing
football or not.”
