Over 100 vehicles from Battle
Creek and a wide array of other
communities were on display last
Sunday morning and early afternoon
for the 14th annual Cancer Beware
Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show put
on by Jerry and Nancy Kilgore of
Kilgore’s Lawn Service of B.C. that’s
located in the Pennfield area.
Sunday’s vehicle show took place
at the same site for the 14th straight
year – on land at the corner of
Bedford Road and Ritchie Lane, with
the land space being donated each

Kilgore’s ‘Cancer Beware Car, Truck and Motorcycle
Show’ raises funds for cancer victims
year by Steve and Paula Siemen.
Jerry Kilgore said that he puts the
vehicle show on annually as a way of
giving back to the community while
raising funds for specific people and/or
families that are stricken with cancer.
“What I do, give back, a lot of
people should do,” Kilgore said. “If
everybody would give back, it would
be a better world.”
Kilgore said that medals/awards were
given out to 25 of Sunday’s vehicle
entrants at show’s end; that prizes “that
I paid for by going to auctions and
estate sales” were handed out to 50/
raffle winners; that a breakfast includ-
ing donuts and biscuits and gravy,
along with hot dogs and other refresh-
ments later in the day, were available;
and that “my wife Nancy is responsible
for a lot of the work that’s put into this
show each year.”
“We raise money for cancer
stricken people and families, people
battling cancer, from money we raise
for car show fees and other things we
do here,” Kilgore said. “We usually
give the funds we raise to one person
or one family each year, so that it can
help with their expenses.
“We usually raise about $2,500 each
year, and that’s what we’re probably
going to raise again this year. It’s just
nice to be able to help people in need,
and today we’ve got beautiful weather
for this event as well.”
