The Blues at the Bohm concert

series continues the first Monday of

every month at the Bohm Theatre in

downtown Albion.

The Aug. 5 concert features award-

winning Selwyn Birchwood and his

band, Exorcist.

The concerts begin at 7 p.m. with

a 90-minute set by the headline act,

followed by a blues jam with local

musicians until 10 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online at

http://www.bohmtheatre.org or at the door.

Although Florida musician

Birchwood is firmly rooted in the

tradition, the young guitarist, lap steel

player, songwriter and vocalist sets a

course for the future of the blues with

his visionary, original music, accord-

ing to a Bohm press release.

Birchwood’s first album, “Don’t

Call No Ambulance,” won the Blues

Music Award for Best New Artist

in 2014, and was followed up with

the BMA award for Song of the Year

in 2021 with his song “I’d Climb

Mountains.”

Rolling Stone Magazine called him

“a remarkable, contemporary blues-

man ... a powerhouse young guitarist

and soulful vocalist ... a major player

...highly recommended.”

The box office opens at 6:30 p.m.
