Brittia. They defeated the local teams

of Becky O’Dell-Naiya Panchal and

Carol Cameron-Toni Whaley to go

2-0 in the tournament format.

Noble was a double tournament
winner as he teamed with Mimi
Hayes, a former Lakeview High
School singles state champion, to
easily sweep the competition in the
Mixed Doubles division.
Noble and Hayes defeated last
year’s winners Austin Wardell and
Isabel Snyder, Marshall High School
assistant tennis coaches, 6-0, 6-1 in
the finals.
The most exciting match of the
whole tournament was a second-
round match in Mixed Doubles,
where Wardell and Snyder defeated
the team of Daniel Hillman and

Vivian Burns – a recently graduated
Pennfield High School standout ten-
nis player who is headed to play col-
lege tennis at Ferris State University

  • 4-6, 6-4 (7).
    First-round losers again went into
    a consolation tournament, which was
won by the team Jon Miller, a local
tennis instructor, and his sister Becky
O’Dell. They defeated Juan Luna and
Lora Krone in a close final match
    6-0, 3-6 (4).
The Harper Creek Optimist Club is
a non-profit service club whose motto
is “Friend of Youth,” and all proceeds
from the tournament will be chan-

neled back into the community to
support local youth.
The club, according to Miller,
would like to acknowledge and
thank the sponsors of the event:
Cereal City Pickleball, C. A. Miller,
O.D., CTI Mechanical, Groundwater
Associates, Magna-Dry, Minges
Creek Racquet Club, Ray Yager
Realtor, Myers Chiropractic, Sims
Heating and Cooling, Sunshine
Toyota, Troy Huggett Fitness and
Wilcox Dentistry. The Club would
also like to thank One Nation Tap &
Table, Pasche’s Seafood Kitchen and
