The Michigan Blaze semi-pro-
fessional basketball franchise that
will play its inaugural season in the
American Basketball Association this
coming fall and winter – with home
games to take place on the main
court of the Battle Creek Family Y
Center’s Multi-Sports Complex – will
have tryouts this Sunday (Aug. 25)
for both its men’s hoops team and for
its women’s dance team.
The tryouts for the Blaze and the
Blazettes – for ages 18-over – are
scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Sunday in the
Y’s Multi-Sports building.


The cost for Blaze tryouts is $25
per player; and the cost for Blazettes
tryouts is $10 in advance and $15 at
the door.
The Blaze – coached by De Voine
Gibson – will begin regular-season
ABA competition in mid-November.
The Blaze is the Cereal City’s first
semi-pro hoops team since the
Knights franchise was here 2005-13.
