The Salvation Army has been very
busy through the month of August.
We want to share three events that
provide insight to activities.

Salvation Army had a
busy August
The first event was Christmas-in-
July, which included bell-ringing at
Horrocks at the end of July.
Through the efforts of our congre-
gation and the Battle Creek Rotary
Club, we were able to raise $1,
over two weekends.
The second event was a Mini-Golf
For Good event on Aug. 9, which
was a huge success, raising almost
$10,000 to help support our year-
round programs in Calhoun and
Barry counties.
Nearly 200 participants took
advantage of the sunny day, as they
navigated their golf balls through a
wagon wheel, water traps and even
an outhouse.
The event was held at Hit-Em Here
Golf Course on Columbia Avenue.
The success of the event was a tes-
tament to the unwavering dedication
and support of our board members,
sponsors, golfers and volunteers.
Their collective effort truly made a
difference.
(See our Facebook page.)
The third big event in August was
The Salvation Army’s Job Fair,
which will take place on the third
Tuesday of every month.
Nearly 80 job seekers visited with
employers in the gymnasium, who
are seeking entry level workers.
Employers including Duncan
Aviation, Michigan Works,
Securitas, Westrock, Americans
for Prosperity, and the U.S. Armed
Forces were happy with the turnout.
As noted by Pathway of Hope Case
Manager Melissa Wells, “This was
a great start. One of our applicants
was hired on the spot! We seek more
employers, and are certain that many
more people will be eager to come
out and find what’s available. We’ll
continue the job fairs every month
throughout next year.”
Finally, we do want to share that
The Salvation Army is no longer
funded by the United Way.

offered or how to donate, check out

We continue our mission of being
“saved to serve.”
