Charitable Union in Battle Creek is
launching its annual winter coat drive.
According to CEO Teresa Allen, the
goal of the drive is to ensure every
child stays warm throughout the cold
winter months.
Last winter, Charitable Union pro-
vided nearly 10,000 winter weather
gear items, including coats, snow
pants, snow boots, gloves and mit-
tens, hats and scarves.
“This year, we aim to surpass that
number and provide even more chil-
dren with the warmth and comfort
they deserve,” said Allen. “Serving
the kids in our community is our first
priority; that is why we hold a special
event in late October.”
Allen added, “This event could not

happen without the support of our
community each year. We create a
mobile store at First Congregational
Church, where families can find”
winter gear.
The organization, which is located
at 85 Calhoun St., is asking the
community for donations of winter
coats and other items to made at
its Donation Center from Monday-
