The Brighter Days Optimist Club of
Battle Creek recently held a pop can
drive, and through donations, they
were able to donate $300 to the South
Michigan Food Bank in Battle Creek.
The Brighter Days Optimist Club
is made up primarily of residents of
Kambly Living Center, said spokes-
person Mishelle Myers.
The club also took a trip to Jolly
Rogers Farm in Bellevue, which is
owned by Zack and Robin Rogers.
There they made flower arrange-
ments, fed apples to the cows and
decorated mini-pumpkins to brighten
up their home at Kambly Living
Center.
The club celebrates its fourth birth-
day on Sept. 28.

During the past four years, mem-
bers have learned how to conduct a
business meeting, have rung bells
for The Salvation Army, made
fleece blankets for S.A.F.E. Place,
as well as holiday treats for nursing
homes, participated in a trunk or treat
at Doris Klaussen Developmental
Center, attended the Battle Creek
Christmas parade, hosted local speak-
ers, planted flowers at Kambly and
much more.
“This has been a great opportunity
for the residents to be able to partici-
pate in the community organizations
by giving back. As advisor, I have
witnessed so much compassion and
growth in this club,” said Myers.
