Brittany
Antonia Mack-
Cadiente, 25,
was born April
6, 1999, and
went home
to be with the
Lord on Sept.
22, 2024.
Brittany
was a beauti-
ful young lady inside and out. She
could light up a room with her kind-
ness, love, compassion and her
wonderful sense of humor. Brittany
was always concerned about oth-
ers. Even if she was going through
a tough time, she wanted to make
sure those she loved were OK if
they were struggling. Brittany relied
on her faith to get her through tough
times. Brittany had trusted in Jesus
as Savior and was striving to get
closer to Him.
Brittany was a light to all who
knew or met her. She was such a
blessing to her family and friends.
She loved her niece and nephews
as if they were her own. They were
so excited and happy whenever
they were together. She also loved
cats. From feeding every stray cat to
getting them re-homed, rescued or
arranging for a place for cats to live
until they found suitable housing,
that was her passion. She was the
only person that could make a stray
cat love her as she loved them, and
she named them all. She had just
started volunteering at The Cat Cafe
in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Brittany enjoyed listening to her
music and making funny snapchats
and videos. She was such a won-
derful person to be around and
knew how to make you smile or
laugh. She enjoyed planting flow-
ers and used to knit, as well. She
was wise beyond her years and
really educated herself on many top-
ics and enjoyed discussions. She
always tried to see the positive and
wanted everyone, including herself,
to be better.
Brittany had just begun studies
at Kellogg Community College at
the end of the summer semester.
She was currently in her first full-
time semester this fall. She was so
excited for school and loved learn-
ing and being in the classroom. She
was studying to go into the medical
field, as that was always another
one of her passions.
Her last job was working at
Oaklawn Medical Group in Marshall,
Mich., as a dept. assistant, and she
loved it! Prior to that, she had been
a server at numerous restaurants
in the area. She was not currently
employed as she was devoting her
time to her studies.
Brittany was preceded in death
by her grandfather John L. Mack of
Nelson, Pa.
She is survived by her mother,
Jan (Mack) Guzman, and stepfather
Johnny Guzman of Battle Creek,
Mich.; sister Maegan Schultz and
nephew Tucker of Ceresco, Mich.;
sister Shanae (Mack) Florez and
Jesús Florez of Battle Creek, Mich.,
and nephews Daniel, Thomas and
Dominic, and niece Melanie; sister
Jasmine Cadiente of Battle Creek,
Mich.; sister Kayla Monaghan of
Portage, Mich.; father Brian and
Melissa (Schwab) Monaghan; and
sister Arianna and brother Parker of
Dewitt, Mich.; grandparents, aunts,
uncles and cousins, as well as
friends.
All who loved Brittany will truly
miss her dearly. Brittany made life
brighter and was an absolute joy.
Life will never be the same without
her, but life was truly touched by
her. She was a wonderful gift of life.
She is loved by so many and has
forever changed our lives with her
sweet spirit.

Robert
Bernard “Bob”
Milliken, 80,
of Marshall,
passed away
Wednesday,
Sept. 25, 2024,
at the Colonial
House, after a
long battle with
Parkinson’s
disease.
A private family graveside service
will be held at Burr Oak Cemetery
in Athens, Mich. The family is being
served by Lighthouse Funeral &
Cremation in Union City.
Bob was born to William and Julia
(Scheibelhut) Milliken of Mishawaka,
Ind., on April 7, 1944, in South
Bend, Ind. He was the eldest of six
children and grew up in Mishawaka.
While attending St. Joseph High
School in South Bend, Bob became
an avid sports fan and played on
the baseball, football and basket-
ball teams. Upon graduation, Bob
attended Bethel College, where
he received his bachelor’s degree
in education. He also went on to
receive a master’s in education from
Western Michigan University. He
proceeded to teach math, social
studies and physical education for
the next 34 years. During those
years, he was a coach for nearly
every sport you could imagine, step-
ping in to coach when the need
arose. However, his true love was
coaching baseball. He had unde-
feated teams in the two years he
was at Athens High School and
was later inducted into the Michigan
Coaches Hall of Fame for more than
100 victories for Springport Schools.
He is remembered fondly by many
players and students over those
years.
While coaching and teaching at
Athens High School, Bob met the
love of his life, Carol Roe, and they
married in 1968. Bob and Carol
were married for 58 years before his
passing. They had two daughters,
Michelle and Kristin, who were the
apple of his eye. He would never
miss an activity that they were
involved in.
Having grown up in the shade
of Notre Dame’s golden dome in
South Bend, Bob was a lifelong
fan of Notre Dame football. In his
retirement, he served as a volun-
teer usher for ND home games
and racked up 20 years of service.
He also cheered for the lovable
losers, the Chicago Cubs, and
rejoiced in their World Series vic-
tory in 2016. He was a friendly face
in the Marshall community, whether
at his church, the local baseball
card shop, walking his dog, Daisy,
down the block or at his “fun retire-
ment job” as a bagger at Felpausch
Grocery Store. His smile and sense
of humor will be missed by many
who knew him.
Bob’s spirit will be carried on by
his wife, Carol; daughters Michelle
(Eric) Wiser of Arlington Heights,
Ill., and Kristen (Carlos) Parreno of
Las Vegas, Nev.; and grandchildren
Jaxson Parreno, Oliver Parreno and
Lillian Wiser. He is remembered
with great love by his siblings,
Mary (Paul) Dorbin of Mishawaka,
Ind., Bill (Christine) Milliken of
Fishers, Ind., Jan (Doug) Baldini
of Mishawaka, Ind., Jean (Perry)
Gish of Mishawaka, Ind., Beth Ann
Modlin of Mishawaka, Ind.; in-laws
Sandy and Doug Miller of Green
Bay, Wis.; as well as many, many
nieces, nephews and great-nieces
and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by
his parents, William and Julia; his
nephew William Dorbin; and father-
in-law and mother-in-law Kenneth
and Margaret Roe.
In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family
requests that donations be made
payable to Amy Owens, c/o Colonial
House Assisted Living, 1302 W.
Hughes St., Marshall, MI 49068,
where Bob spent his last months.
Colonial House provided loving and
compassionate care for Bob, and he
was happy to be there. He felt like
he was among friends.
