many chances.
The Caledonia varsity football team
got the ball first and drove as far as the
Rockford 10-yard-line before the drive
petered out and it turned the ball over
on downs.
An interception by Colin Kowatch
gave the Fighting Scots the opportunity
for a drive that got to the Rockford
14-yard-line, but came up empty.
Reed Vogeler smothered the foot-
ball after a strip sack by teammate
River Swanlund, but that ensuing drive
couldn’t get any closer than the Rock-
ford 8-yard-line eventually ending in a
blocked field goal attempt.
Three early drives inside the Rock-
ford 15 yard line, and the Scots came
away with zero points in what would
eventually be a 34-14 OK Red Confer-
ence loss to the visiting Rams inside
Ralph E Myers Stadium Friday.
That first Caledonia possession end-
ed with a missed blocking assignment
or two on an attempt at a throwback
screen pass. Rockford took over on its
11-yard line and on the very first snap
put the ball in the hands of running
back Isaac Poot. He found room to run
around the left side, spun out of tackle at
about the 30-yard-line, and kept going
to the end zone for an 89-yard score.
The Rams led the rest of the night.
