The Reminder

Every day should

be Veterans Day

As Veterans Day approaches, we

are reminded of the incredible ser-

vice and sacrifice made by the men

and women who have served in our

nation’s armed forces.

It is a time for reflection and grati-

tude, but we must also remember

that the need for recognition and

care extends beyond just one day.

Sadly, many of our veterans now

reside in senior adult living facilities,

and some are even homeless.

It is all too easy for these heroes

to be forgotten in the hustle of daily

life.

But I believe it is our duty, not just

on Veterans Day, but every day, to

show them that we remember and

appreciate their service and sacrifice

for the freedoms we enjoy today.

I will be visiting several senior

care and assisted living facilities to

personally thank our veterans.

These include Lakeview Assisted

Living, Heritage Assisted Living,

Reflections Memory Care,

Evergreen Senior Care, Vineyard

Assisted Living, Calhoun County

Medical Care Facility, Heritage

Community Care of Kalamazoo and

Thurston Woods Adult Day Care in

Sturgis.

These visits are a small gesture to

let our veterans know they are not

forgotten and that their service is

valued.

I encourage everyone who has a

family member, friend or acquain-

tance who has served in the military

to take the time to visit them and

express your gratitude.

One veteran who does

not know his or her nation

appreciates and cares for

their service is one too

many.

Every veteran deserves

to feel the warmth of our

thanks.

While Nov. 11 is a day

set aside to honor veter-

ans nationwide, I believe

every day should be

Veterans Day.

honor a veteran at a past local event.

We must extend our gratitude not

only to the veterans but also to their

families, who have made sacrifices

of their own.

It is important to remember that

many of these brave individuals have

given their lives, and all of them

would have, if called upon, to protect

our country and the freedoms we

hold dear.

So, this Veterans Day, and every

day, let us make it our mission to

ensure that no veteran feels forgotten

or unappreciated.

Join me in thanking them for their

courage, their service and their sac-

rifice: Thank you, veterans. We are

forever grateful.
