The Calhoun County Public Health
Department (CCPHD) is offering
free marijuana lock bags to commu-
nity members through its Lock It Up
program. These bags are designed to
securely store products like edibles,
capsules, and vaping supplies,
enhancing safety at home, especially
in households with young children
and pets.
You can pick up these lock bags
at no cost from their Albion and
Battle Creek locations during normal
business hours. As marijuana acces-
sibility increases, it is crucial to have
tools that promote safe storage and
prevent accidental ingestion.

products and, in particular, to pre-
vent accidental ingestions by chil-
dren,” said Lauren Lewandowski,
Community Public Health Director
at CCPHD. “These lock bags are
an easy and effective way for indi-

The CCPHD Lock It Up program
is provided through a grant from the
Michigan Department of Licensing
and Regulatory Affairs. The purpose
of the grant is to help establish injury
prevention and education systems
for local public health efforts regard-
ing adult marijuana use. CCPHD
distributes the lock bags through
engagement at community events
and with the help of other commu-
nity organizations. Each lock bag
includes education about the impact
of marijuana ingestion on children
and adolescents.
The CCPHD encourages any-
one who uses or stores marijuana
products to take advantage of this
resource. For more information on
