Daniel S.
Strickland, 63,
of Battle Creek,
passed away
suddenly on
Nov. 6, 2024.
He was born
April 10, 1961,
the son of
Wendell and
Wilma (Hart)
Strickland.
Dan was an accomplished Eagle
Scout. Dan was a 1980 graduate of
Hastings High School and attended
Kellogg Community College for two
years. Dan was employed by Hi-lex
Corporation for 22 years. Most recently,
he was employed by J&L Electric/United
Petroleum.
He was a very enthusiastic sports
follower and enjoyed all
sports. He had the gift of
living life, attending events
of all his nieces and neph-
ews, HHS sporting events,
local sport rivalries and
keeping up with Detroit
Tigers, Lions, Red Wings,
and MSU.
Dan left a tremendous
influence with every person
who knew him.
Dan was preceded indeath by his father and grandparents.
Surviving are his mother, Wilma; his
brother, Gary; two sisters, Marcia and
Amy; and many nieces and nephews,
cousins and many close friends.
Visitation was held Monday from 5-
p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral
Home and Cremation Services. Funeral
services were held 11 a.m., Tuesday,
Nov. 12, 2024, at the funeral home.
Interment was at Union Cemetery in
Dowling, Mich.

Pyott of Cocoa,
Fla., musician,
73, played his
last note on Oct.
22, 2024, with
his wife of 43
years, Lyn, at
his side. He was
born Dec. 4,
1950.
He is also
survived by his
mother, Betty
Pyott, Rockledge, Fla.; sister Tammy
(Ron) Voss, Okemos, Mich.; brother
Brad Pyott, Holt, Mich.; sister-in-law
Kathy Rabbitt, Muskegon, Mich.; and
the Voss, Johnson and Rabbitt nieces
and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his
father, Clifford Pyott; in-laws William
and Alice Youngs; and sister-in-law
Tracey Williams.
Greg’s great passion was music. He
first played electric bass professionally
in his hometown, Battle Creek, Mich.,and later in surrounding states. After
moving to the Cocoa area in 1983, he
played electric bass and rhythm guitar
in central and south Florida. He was
also employed for many years as an
insulator. As a lifelong space enthusiast,
he valued a brief stint of employment
as a laborer at Kennedy Space Center
in the mid-’80s; it was a rare launch he
missed viewing right up until his death.
In later life, he fashioned canes and
walking sticks as a very non-lucrative
side gig, since his specialty was giving
them away to anyone who appeared to
be in need.
Greg was a true original. He lived life
with great gusto and a reverence for all
living things -- plants, animals and peo-
ple. His openness, enthusiasm and curi-
osity about everything drew people to
him, and he was a loyal friend to many.
His kindness, generosity, intelligence
and humor were ever on display.

22, 1937, in
Wyandotte,
Mich., passed
away peacefully
on Nov. 2, 2024,
in Battle Creek,
Mich. A devoted
mother, grand-
mother and great-grandmother, she
dedicated her life to nurturing her fam-
ily as a stay-at-home mother. Frances
graduated from Wyandotte High School
as part of the class of 1957.
In her younger years, Frances enjoyed
simple pleasures, such as horse and
buggy rides with her beloved husband,
James Chapman. Together, they created
a warm and loving home, a place where
family was always the center of her uni-
verse. Frances had a vibrant passion for
cooking and was often found watching
her favorite cooking shows. Her culinary
talents and heartfelt meals brought joy
to countless family gatherings.
Frances leaves behind a legacy of love
through her daughter, Minda Chapman
Martin; sons John (Tammy) Chapman
and Jim (Terrie) Chapman. She is also
survived by her grandchildren Mike
Martin, David Chapman, Jimmy (Val)
Chapman, Jesse (Candice) Chapman,
Chad (Ashley) Chapman and Travis
(Ashley) Chapman, Stephanie Martin
Clay and Chelsea (Lance) Faulk. Her
family continued to grow, as she cher-
ished her role as a grandmother to 25
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, James Chapman; her parents,
John and Pietrina (DeSantas) LaFata;
sister Jenny Buindo; brother Vincent
LaFata; grandson Justin Peters; and
great-granddaughter Ally Gates.
The visitation was held Nov. 8, 2024,
from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by the
funeral service at noon at Richard A
Henry Funeral Home in Battle Creek,
Mich.
Frances’ spirit will continue to live on
in the hearts of those she touched.

Sandra F. Pearson , 81, of Athens,
passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024,
at her home, under hospice care, sur-
rounded by her loving family.
Following cremation, a graveside ser-
vice was held Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, at
1 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Union
City, with Rev Mr. John Wielgos officiat-
ing.
The family is being served by
Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation
Services.
Sandra was born March 10, 1943, in
Athens, Michigan, to Murle and Dolly
(Solomon) Reynolds. She went to
school in Athens and was very active
with their 4-H program. She really loved
working with animals. Sandra gradu-
ated from Athens High School with the
class of 1961. She was on the go all the
time. At one time, she had two beloved
donkeys and a horse. She worked in the
manufacturing industry for many years,
including Federal Mogul, Theodore
Bargeman, eventually retiring from the
Lear Corporation.
Sandra really enjoyed camping with
her husband with their travel trailer.They were on their way to Michigan’s
Upper Peninsula to go to a car show.
Not long after crossing the bridge,
a bearing went out on the trailer, so
they pulled into a gas station. The
area mechanic couldn’t get the part
right away, so the gas station allowed
the couple to set up their trailer in the
parking lot and camp for the weekend.
Sandra also enjoyed spending time at
the casino and taking trips with her girl-
friends.
Sandra is survived by her son, Cliff
(Terrie) Powell of Coldwater; her grand-
daughter, Miranda (Andy) Lukazcek
of Quincy; her great-grandchildren,
Hayden Lukazcek and Trey Powell; and
her former husband, Bill Powell. She is
also survived by her dogs, Poo Boy and
Tasha.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Michael Pearson; her par-
ents; her brothers, Dick Reynolds and
Harold Reynolds; and her sister, Francis
Garrison.
