The annual Christmas Campaign
held by The Salvation Army kicked
off on Nov. 8 in Battle Creek on the
Horrocks Farm Market stage, with
some music and the announcement
of the Christmas Campaign goal of
$250,000.
A few musical pieces were played
by a brass and wind quartet led by

Tim Culver, Salvation Amy sol-
dier Jason Hardy, and Battle Creek
officers Captains Mika and Grace
Roinila.
The kickoff will also started off the
3 rd annual Golden Kettle Competition
among service clubs and organiza-
tions in support of The Salvation
Army’s Christmas Campaign.
The winners have included the
Masons of Ira A. Beck Lodge (2022),

and American Legion Post 257
(2023).
“Be on the look out for the Golden
Kettle competition updates between
service clubs in the following weeks,”
said Captain Mika Roinila. “The
competition and the campaign ends
on Dec.24, Christmas Eve!”
He added that The Salvation Army
is excited to welcome volunteers
and service clubs in raising support

for the many ways the Army offers
assistance across Calhoun and Barry
counties.
There are still shifts available, and
everyone interested in participating
and helping this fundraising effort are
asked to book their times online at
https://www.registertoring.com.
