Bran
The following day was spent in Bran, where a visit to Bran Castle
revealed its fascinating history. I learned that the castle, constructed
in 1388, served as a customs office and a fortress. Perched atop a
cliff, it offers panoramic views of the nearby hills and was strategically
used to stop the Ottoman Empire’s expansion. Although the castle
had many owners, it also belonged to Vlad Dracul, or Vlad the
Impaler, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
