HIKE OR CRUISE TO VICTORIA’S SECRET COVES
On the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, Wilsons Promontory
National Park is home to some of the best views and beaches in Victoria,
packed full of hidden coves and boats and just two hours away from
Melbourne. Many spots are accessible only by foot or by boat, including
Refuge Cove, pictured here. A drop-dead-gorgeous secluded beach situated
on the eastern side of the Prom, it’s found – for the adventurous – at the
end of a 19.2 kilometre overnight hike from Tidal River. A campsite
surrounded by lush vegetation offers promised refuge. Or cut to the chase
on a full-day tour with Refuge Cove Cruises, departing Port Welshpool on
a 42-passenger catamaran and taking in the cove and other highlights.
