On Nov.17, 1118, Hui-tsung of Sung received Koryo envoys in
audience. On Dec.1 of the same year, the port of Ming reported to
the Sung court that a Koryo mission had landed (Sung hui-yao kao,
ts’e 197).
In early 1119, Chin proposed a border demarkation to Koryo (Chin
shih 2:13b; 135:4a).
In 1120, T’ien-tso of Liao begged for troops from Koryo in his last
stand against Chin. This was refused (Liao shih 115:4b).
On Oct.15, 1122, envoys from Koryo announced at the Sung court
that Wang Yu had died. Sung sent a mission to condole and sacrifice.
After a struggle, Yu’s son K’ai (Injong) was enthroned in Koryo (Sung
shih 22:7a; 487:15a; Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 325:52b).
In the 9th month (Oct./Nov.) of 1124, Koryo offered gifts to the
Sung court (Sung shih 22:11a).
After Ch’in-tsung had ascended the Sung throne on Jan.19, 1126,
Koryo envoys landed in Ming to congratulate (Sung shih 487:15a; Wen-
hsien t’ung-k’ao 325:52b).
On June 23, 1126, Wang K’ai of Koryo “presented a memorial [to
Chin] and declared himself a vassal” (Chin shih 3:8a; 135:5a).
On July 23, 1126, Chin sent a mission to the Koryo court (Chin
shih 3:8a; 135:5a).
On Nov.11, 1126, Koryo’s last recorded mission to Northern Sung
was received at the court (Sung shih 23:13b).
On Jan.14, 1127,^77 Chin sent envoys to congratulate the king of
Koryo on his birthday (Chin shih 3:9a).
On Feb.13, 1127, the New Year’s Day, Koryo envoys congratulated
at the Chin court (Chin shih 3:9b).
When Kao-tsung had ascended the throne on June 12, 1127, and
founded the Southern Sung Dynasty, he was worried about a diplo-
matic rapprochement between Chin and Koryo. He sent a mission to
Koryo, led by an Acting Junior Director of the Imperial Clan, while
Chin simultaneously sent envoys to recognize Wang K’ai as king (Sung
shih 487:15b; Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 325:53a).
On Sep.28, 1127, Emperor T’ai-tsung of Chin sent envoys to Koryo
to announce his victory over [Northern] Sung (Chin shih 3:10a).
