On Oct.16, 1164,^84 Shih-tsung sent the Junior Supervisor of the
Household of the Heir-apparent to congratulate the king of Koryo
on his birthday (Chin shih 6:15a).
On Feb.13, 1165, the New Year’s Day, Koryo envoys congratulated
at the Chin court. Shih-tsung gave them “instructions” (Chin shih 6:
15a; 135:5b).
On Apr.13, 1165,^85 Koryo envoys to the Chin court congratulated
on the birthday of Shih-tsung (Chin shih 6:15b).
On Nov.10, 1165, Shih-tsung sent an Assistant of the Grand Direc-
tor of the Imperial Clan to congratulate the king of Koryo on his
birthday (Chin shih 6:16a).
On Feb.3, 1166, the New Year’s Day, Koryo envoys congratulated
at the Chin court (Chin shih 6:16b).
On Apr.6, 1166,^86 envoys to the Chin court congratulated on the
birthday of Shih-tsung (Chin shih 6:16b).
On May 26, 1166, Shih-tsung sent a Gentleman-of-the-Palace of
the Right Office of the Masters of Writing with gifts to the Koryo
court (Chin shih 6:17a).
On Nov.3, 1166, Shih-tsung sent a Gentleman-in-Attendance of the
Ministry of Arms to congratulate the king of Koryo on his birthday
(Chin shih 6:17b).
On Jan.23, 1167, the New Year’s Day, Koryo envoys congratulated
at the Chin court (Chin shih 6:18a).
On Mar.23, 1167, Koryo envoys to the Chin court congratulated
on the birthday of Shih-tsung (Chin shih 6:18a).
On Oct.31, 1167, Shih-tsung sent the Inspector of Water Ways to
congratulate the king of Koryo on his birthday (Chin shih 6:18b).
On Feb.11, 1168, the New Year’s Day, Koryo envoys congratulated
at the Chin court (Chin shih 6:19b).
On Apr.10, 1168, Koryo envoys to the Chin court congratulated
on the birthday of Shih-tsung (Chin shih 6:20b).


(^84) Emending 8th month to 9th. The 8th did not have the cyclical characters of
hsin-hai.
(^85) The text says 3rd month, mou-shen, but these cyclical characters did not occur
in that month. We know, however, from Chin shih 6:13a that Shih-tsung’s birthday
was celebrated on the 1st day of the 3rd month. The entry can therefore be emended
to Apr.13. 86
The text says 3rd month, jen-yin, but these cyclical characters did not occur
in that month. In accordance with the preceding note, the date can be emended
to Apr.6.
