On Feb.10, 1206, the New Year’s Day, Koryo envoys congratulated
at the Chin court (Chin shih 12:6b).
On Oct.4, 1206, Koryo envoys to the Chin court congratulated on
the birthday of Chang-tsung (Chin shih 12:11a).
On Jan.30, 1207, the New Year’s Day, Koryo envoys congratulated
at the Chin court (Chin shih 12:13b; 135:8a).
On May 23, 1207, Chang-tsung sent the Vice Inspector of Palace
Accounts to the Koryo court with gifts (Chin shih 12:4b).
On Sep.24, 1207, Koryo envoys to Chin court congratulated on
the birthday of Chang-tsung (Chin shih 12:15b; 135:8a).
On Oct. 31, 1207, Chang-tsung sent the Prefect of the Arsenal to
congratulate the king of Koryo on his birthday (Chin shih 12:16a).
On Jan.19, 1208, the New Year’s Day, Koryo envoys congratulated
at the Chin court (Chin shih12:16b).
On July 9, 1208, the birthday celebration of Chang-tsung of Chin
was moved from the 1st day of the 9th month to the 15th day of the
10th month (Chin shih 12:18a).
On Nov.14, 1208, Chang-tsung sent a Gentleman-of-the-Palace to
congratulate the king of Koryo on his birthday (Chin shih 12:18b).
On Nov.24, 1208, Koryo envoys to Chin court congratulated on
the birtday of Chang-tsung (Chin shih 12:18b).
In the 5th month (June/July) of 1209, Koryo envoys congratulated
the King of Wei-shao on his enthronement as emperor of Chin (Chin
shih 13:2b).^97
On Jan.17, 1211, the New Year’s Day, Koryo envoys congratulated
at the Chin court (Chin shih 13:4a).
In the 8th month (Aug./Sep.) of 1213, it became known at the
Chin court that the king of Koryo, Wang Ying, had died. In the 9th
month (Sep./Oct.), Koryo officially announced the death. Chin sent
envoys to condole and sacrifice and to recognize Wang Ying’s suc-
cessor (Kangjong) (Chin shih 135:8a).
In 1214, Emperor Hsüan-tsung of Chin attempted to send an envoy
to the Koryo court, but the roads were blocked [by the Mongols]
(Chin shih 135:8a).^98


(^97) Chang-tsung had died on Dec.29, 1208, and his uncle was enthroned. Since
the latter was overthrown, he never received a posthumous title and is known as the
king of Wei-shao.
(^98) The King of Wei-shao had been overthrown in a coup on Sep.10, 1213, by
his nephew (a brother of Chang-tsung), who then ascended the throne as Emperor
Hsüan-tsung.
