In 830, it became known at the T’ang court that the king of Po-hai,
Ta Jen-hsiu, had died and that, since his son Hsin-te had died earlier,
his grandson Yi-chen had succeeded (Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 326:58a).
In the 12th month (Dec./Jan., 831) of the Chinese year 830, Po-hai
envoys offered gifts (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
In 831, Emperor Wen-tsung appointed Ta Yi-chen as Imperial
Household Grandee of the Silver Seal and Blue Ribbon, Acting Inspec-
tor of the Imperial Library, and Military Governor [of the non-existant
Hu-han Area Command], and recognized him as king of Po-hai (Chiu
T’ang shu 199B:13b).
In the 11th month (Dec./Jan., 832) of the Chinese year 831, Po-hai
envoys offered gifts (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
In the 3rd month (Apr./May) of 832, a son of the king of Po-hai
was received at the T’ang court (Chiu T’ang shu 199B:13ab; Ts’e-fu
yüan-kuei p.5033).
In the 1st month (Jan./Feb.) of 833, the Joint Manager of Affairs of
the Right of the Palace Writers of the king of Po-hai thanked for the
recognition. Three students were attached to the mission (Chiu T’ang
shu 199B:13b; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
On Mar.16, 833, a mission of six men from Po-hai, led by a royal
son, was received at the T’ang court (Chiu T’ang shu 17B:18a; 199B:
13b)
In the 12th month (Jan./Feb., 837) of the Chinese year 836, Po-hai
envoys offered gifts (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
In the 12th month (Jan./Feb., 840) of the Chinese year 839, a son
of the king of Po-hai offered gifts (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
On Feb.16, 846, Po-hai envoys were received at the T’ang court
(Chiu T’ang shu 18A:16b; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
In the 2nd month (Feb./Mar.) of 858, it became known at the
T’ang court that the king of Po-hai, Ta Yi-chen, had died and that
his younger brother Ch’ien-huang had been enthroned. On Mar.9 of
that year, Emperor Hsüan-tsung^20 recognized Ch’ien-huang as king
(Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 326:58a; Tzu-chih t’ung-chien p.8069).
On June, 15, 907, a son of the Po-hai king Ta Yin-chuan^21 offered
