Khitan court requested permission to watch the ceremony in which
the envoys from various states were received in audience. This was
allowed (Liao shih 4:4a).
On Feb.26, 940,^105 envoys from the Uighur qaghan of Kan chou
thanked Kao-tsu of Later Chin for his recgnition of their ruler and
offered 100 fine horses, 100 lumps of white jade, horse trappings etc.
(Chiu Wu-tai shih 138:5a-5b; Hsin Wu-tai shih 8:7b; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei
p.5035).
At the Dragon Boat Festival of June 13, 940, T’ai-tsung of the
Khitan gave a banquet for the officials and for the envoys from the
various countries. He ordered the two envoys from the Uighurs and
from Tun-huang (Sha chou) to perform their native dances so that
all the envoys might see them (Liao shih 4:4b-5a).
In the 3rd month (April) of 941, Uighur envoys to the Khitan court
were presented with banners, bows, swords, garments, and horses
(Liao shih 4:6b).
On Nov.30, 942, Uighur envoys were received at the Later Chin
court (Hsin Wu-tai shih 9:2b).
On Sep.11, 944, Uighur envoys to the Khitan court requested a
marriage. T’ai-tsung rejected it (Liao shih 4:10b).
In the 2nd month (Mar./Apr.) of 945, a Uighur qaghan presented
to the Later Chin court jade lumps, jade horse trappings, uncut gems,
red salt, white cotton fabrics from An-hsi, castoreum, goral horns, yak
tails, sable furs etc. (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5036).
On July 15, 945, Uighurs offered gifts to the Khitan court (Liao
shih 4:12a; 70:5b).
On Feb.12, 946, Uighurs offered gifts to the Khitan court (Liao
shih 4:12b).
On Mar.20, 946, Uighur envoys to the Later Chin court offered
gifts (Chiu Wu-tai shih 84:7b; Hsin Wu-tai shih 9:7a).
On June 20, 948, a Uighur envoy to the Later Han court offered
120 horses, jade horse trappings, 73 jade lumps, 127 pieces of white
cotton fabrics, 225 sable furs, 148 yak tails, goral horns, uncut gems,
various drugs etc. In the 7th month (Aug./Sep.) the envoy was by
Emperor Yin appointed as General-in-chief, and his two deputies
and assistant as Generals (Chiu Wu-tai shih 101:6b; 138:5b; Ts’e-fu
yüan-kueip.5036).
