In late 961 or early 962, envoys from the Uighur qaghhan of Kan
chou to the Sung court offered regional objects (Sung shih 1:11a; 490:
13a;Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 347:30a).
On May 19, 962, a mission of 42 Uighurs^106 to the Sung court
offered regional objects (Sung shih 1:12a; Sung hui yao kao, ts’e 197:1b;
Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 347:30a).
In the 1st month (Feb./Mar.) of 964, Uighur envoys to the Sung
court offered 100 jade lumps, 40 catties of amber,^107 61 yak tails, 110
sable furs, 535 jade pearls, 125 pieces of broken jade, 65 horses, 19
racehorses, etc. (Sung shih 1:17a; 490:13a; Sung hui-yao kao ts’e 197: 1b;
Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 347:30b).
On May 8, 965, a Uighur mission of 47 men to the Sung court
offered 100 jade lumps,^108 229 catties of amber, two lumps of white
stone, four bags of uncut gems, 40 red and white yak tails, 50 sable
furs, 50 pieces of coarse woolen stuffs, 30 pieces of white cotton fabrics,
jade horse trappings, 10 horses, and 70 racehorses (Sung shih 2:1b; 490:
13a;Sung hui-yao kao ts’e 197:1b-2a; Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 347:30b).
On Dec.5, 965, a Buddhist priest sent by the Uighur qaghan of Kan
chou to the Sung court presented a tooth of the Buddha, opaque glass
vessels, and amber cups (Sung shih 2:2b; Sung hui-yao kao ts’e 197: 2a).
On Jan.16., 966, envoys from the Uighur qaghan of Kan chou to
the Sung court offered 40 catties of uncut gems, eight branches of
coral, 1000 bolts of coarse woolen stuffs, jade belts, jade horse trap-
pings etc., and, together with Khotan and others, 1000 horses, 500
camels,^109 500 jade lumps, and 500 catties of amber (Sung shih 2:2b-3a;
Sung hui-yao kao ts’e 197: 2a; Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 337:41b).
In the 11th month (Nov./Dec.) of 968, Uighurs from Kan chou to
the Sung court offered camels and regional objects (Sung hui-yao kao
ts’e 197:2a).
Some time in 968, a Uighur chief minister offered horses to the
Sung court (Sung hui-yao kao ts’e 197:2a).
On Dec.29, 969, Uighur envoys to the Sung court offered gifts.
They also traded in the Ning-hsia Oasis (Hsü Tzu-chih t’ung-chien
ch’ang-pien p.91).
