1050, Hsia envoys arrived at the Liao court in accordance with Hsing-
tsung’s wish (Liao shih 20:5a, 5b; 115:9a).
On Mar.17, 1051, Hsing-tsung sent the Inspector-in-chief of the
Northern Administration to Hsia to inquire about an uprising of the
Tang-hsiang. This envoy returned on June 14 and reported that Liang-
tso’s [step]mother was willing to attack the Tang-hsiang, that she was
willing to raze fortifications, and that she wished to offer horses and
camels. On June 30, Hsia envoys repeated the offer to raze fortifica-
tions (Liao shih 20:5b; 115:9a).
On Nov.9, 1052, Hsia envoys to the Liao court proposed a cessa-
tion of hostilities. Hsing-tsung responded with an envoy of his own
(Liao shih 20:7a; 115:9a-9b).
On Apr.14, in the 7th month (July/Aug.), and on Nov.9, 1053, Hsia
envoys to the Liao court offered peace (Liao shih 20:7b; 115:9b).
On Mar.5, 1054, Hsia envoys to the Liao court offered regional
objects (Liao shih 20:8a; 70:19b; 115:9b).
On June 14, 1054, Hsia proposed to offer horses and camels to
Liao. Hsing-tsung decided to accept them annually (Liao shih 20:8a;
70:19b; 115:9b).
On July 7, 1054, Hsia envoys to the Liao court offered gifts (Liao
shih 20:8a).
On Aug.13, 1054, Hsia envoys to the Liao court proposed a mar-
riage (Liao shih 20:8a; 115:9b).
On Oct.18, 1054, Liao envoys to the Sung court announced that
peace had been concluded between Hsia and Liao (Sung shih 12:8a).
On Nov.28, 1054, Hsia envoys to the Liao court offered an oath
letter [confirming the peace] (Liao shih 20:8b; 115:9b).
On Mar.26, 1055, Hsia envoys to the Liao court congratulated
(Liao shih 20:9a).
On May 11, Jen-tsung of Sung presented the Tripitaka to Hsia (Hsü
Tzu-chih t’ung-chien ch’ang-pien p.1654).
On Sep.1, 1055, Emperor Tao-tsung of Liao sent envoys to Hsia
to announce the death of his father Hsing-tsung on Aug.28. Hsia sent
envoys to congratulate Tao-tsung on his enthronement. On Oct.20,
Tao-tsung sent envoys to Hsia to present the testamentary gifts of the
late emperor (Liao shih 21:1b, 2a; 115:9b).
On Jan.24, 1056, envoys from Liang-tso to the Sung court announced
that his [step]mother had died. On Jan.25, Jen-tsung suspended the
