On July 18, 1089, Hsia envoys to the Sung court offered gifts (Hsü
Tzu-chih t’ung-chien ch’ang-pien p.4045).
On Aug.20, 1089, Hsia envoys arrived at the Sung court to con-
gratulate on the birthday [of the Grand Empress Dowager].^27 On
Jan.8, 1090, Hsia envoys arrived to congratulate on the birthday
of Che-tsung^28 (Sung shih 486:11b; Hsü Tzu-chih t’ung-chien ch’ang-pien
pp.4053, 4099).
In the 6th month (July) of 1090, Hsia envoys to the Sung court
found fault with the drawing of the border. On Aug.21, other envoys
also discussed the drawing of the border (Sung shih 17:14b, 486:11b).
On Aug.10, 1090, Hsia envoys arrived at the Sung court to con-
gratulate on the birthday [of the Grand Empress Dowager]^29 (Hsü
Tzu-chih t’ung-chien ch’ang-pien p.4188).
In the winter of 1090, Hsia attacked Sung. But on Dec.28, 1090,
Hsia envoys also arrived at the Sung court for the New Year con-
gratulations of Jan.23, 1091 (Sung shih 486:11b; Hsü Tzu-chih t’ung-chien
ch’ang-pien p.4256).
On July 30, 1091, Hsia envoys arrived at the Sung court to con-
gratulate on the birthday [of the Grand Empress Dowager].^30 This
year, full-scale war between Sung and Hsia broke out again (Sung shih
486:11b).
On July 10, 1092, Hsia envoys sought help from the Liao court
(Liao shih 25:4b; 115:10a).
In 1093, the war abated, and in the 4th month (Apr./May) Hsia
envoys to the Sung court proposed a border adjustment. The Chinese
replied with complaints of their own, and nothing came of the matter.
Later that year, Hsia envoys sought a relaxation of enmity (Sung shih
17:19a). (Sung shih 486:12a).
On Feb.11, 1094, Hsia envoys to the Sung court offered gifts (Sung
shih 18:1a).
In the 2nd month (Feb./Mar.) of 1094, Hsia presented horses to
contribute toward the expenses of constructing the grave mound of
Che-tsung’s grandmother, the Grand Empress Dowager.^31 Hsia also
sent envoys to discuss once more an exchange of territories, which
the Sung rejected (Sung shih 486:12).
