In the 9th month (Sep./Oct.) of 1191, Chang-tsung appointed the
Commissioner of the Palace Audience Gate of the West as envoy to
congratulate the Hsia ruler on his birthday (Chin shih 9:12b).
On Dec.1, 1191, there was a border incident in which Hsia herds-
men killed a Chin official. It had no repercussions (Chin shih 9:13a).
On Jan.15, 1192, Hsia envoys arrived at the Chin court to con-
gratulate on the New Year’s Day. Jan.17 was the New Year’s Day,
but because of the mourning for the Empress Dowager the court was
suspended (Chin shih 9:13b).
On Oct.5, 1192, Hsia envoys arrived at the Chin court to congratu-
late on birthday of Chang-tsung. Oct.8 was the imperial birthday but
because of the mourning for the Empress Dowager, the court was
suspended (Chin shih 9:17a).
On Oct.12, 1192, Chang-tsung appointed the Prefect of the Office
of the National Altars as envoy to congratulate the Hsia ruler on his
birthday (Chin shih 9:17b).
On Feb.2, 1193, Hsia envoys arrived at the Chin court to con-
gratulate on the New Year’s Day. Feb.4 was the New Year’s Day,
but because of the mourning for the Empress Dowager the court was
suspended (Chin shih 10:1a).
In the 5th month (June) of 1193, Chang-tsung appointed the Com-
missioner of Livery Service as envoy to take gifts to Hsia (Chin shih
10:3a).
On Sep.27, 1193, Hsia envoys to the Chin court congratulated on
the birthday of Chang-tsung (Chin shih 10:4a).
On Oct.16, 1193, Li Jen-hsiao of Hsia died, aged 70. His temple
name was Jen-tsung. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Shun-yu,
aged 17 (Sung shih 486:21b-22a).
On Dec.11. 1193, envoys of Shun-yu to the Chin court announced
the death of his father. Chang-tsung appointed the Commissioner of
the Palace Gate of the West as envoy to Hsia to condole, sacrifice,
and inquire (Chin shih 10:4b).
On Jan.24, 1194, the New Year’s Day, Hsia envoys congratulated
at the Chin court (Chin shih 10:5a).
In the 1st month (Jan./Feb.) of 1194, Chang-tsung appointed the
Libationer of the National Academy as envoy to recognize Shun-yu
as king of Hsia (Chin shih 10:5a).
On Sep.16, 1194, Hsia envoys to the Chin court congratulated on
