Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 332:17b).
In the intercalary month (Apr./May) of 1056, Champa envoys
offered regional objects. On Feb.14, 1057, the emperor ordered Canton
to pay Champa 1000 ounces of silver. In the 9th month (Oct./Nov.)
of 1061, envoys presented a tame elephant (Sung shih 12:19a; 489:9a;
Sung hui-yao kao 8116:11a; Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 332:17b).
In the 5th month (June July) of 1062, Champa envoys offered region -
al objects. In the 6th month (July/Aug.) of that year, their king was
presented with [porcelain] tea vessels and a white horse. On July 8,
1068,^108 he offered regional objects and wished to buy mules and
horses. He was presented with another white horse and informed that
he could buy mules in Canton. In the 9th month (Sep./Oct.) of 1071, a
mission from Champa offered gifts. On June 11, 1072, Champa envoys
offered opaque glass, coral, wine vessels, baroos camphor, frankincense,
cloves, cubebs,^109 purple ore etc. It received for this 2,100 ounces of
silver (Sung shih 12:20a; 14:6b; 15:17a; 489:9a-9b; Sung hui-yao kao 8116:
11a-11b;Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 332:17b).
On Mar.9, 1076, Sung invited Champa and the Khmer Kingdom
to participate in a joint attack on Chiao-chih. On Sept.17 of that
year,^110 Champa envoys offered gifts. They stated that their country
was one month distant by sea from Chen-la (the Khmer Kingdom). On
Jan.6, 1078, Champa envoys offered a tame elephant, and on Sep.19,
1086,^111 gifts. On Jan.10, 1087, envoys offered leggings of rhinoceros
hide, for which the Sung paid 2,600 strings of copper cash (Sung shih
15:15b, 17a, 19b; 17:17a; 489:9b; Sung hui-yao kao 8116:11b-13a).
In the 2nd month (Mar./Apr.) of 1092, Champa envoys offered gifts
and proposed a joint attack on Chiao-chih. This was rejected by the
Sung court. On Apr.14, the chief envoy was appointed to a nominal
Chinese office (Sung shih17:18b; 469:10a; Sung hui-yao kao 8116:13a;
Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 332:17b).
On July 4, 1104, on Aug.10, 1109, and in 1116, Champa envoys
offered presents (Sung shih 19:12b; 20:2a, 9b; 21:7b; Sung hui-yao kao
8116:134a-13b).
