On Jan.16, 1097, the New Year’s Day, Che-tsung did not hold
court. The Liao envoys congratulated at the Audience Gate (Sung
shih18:7a-7b).
On July 30, 1097, Tao-tsung sent envoys to the Sung court, advis-
ing it to make peace with Hsia (Liao shih 26:3a).
On Jan.9, 1098, Liao envoys arrived at the Sung court to con-
gratulate on the birthday of Che-tsung^202 (Hsü Tzu-chih t’ung-chien
ch’ang-pienp.4602).
On Jan.30, 1098, Liao envoys arrived at the Sung court to con-
gratulate on the New Year’s Day of Feb.4 (Hsü Tzu-chih t’ung-chien
ch’ang-pienp.4606).
On Feb.25, 1098, Sung envoys to the Liao court presented brocade
and silk (Liao shih 26:3b).
On Nov.22, 1098, Tao-tsung sent the Tribal Judge of the Right
and an Auxiliary Academician of the Bureau of Military Affairs as
envoys to the Sung court, urging it to make peace with Hsia (Liao shih
26:4a).
On Dec.29, 1098, Liao envoys arrived at the Sung court to con-
gratulate on the birthday of Che-tsung^203 (Hsü Tzu-chih t’ung-chien
ch’ang-pienp.4714).
On Jan.24, 1099, the New Year’s Day, Che-tsung did not hold
court because of a snowfall. The Liao envoys congratulated at the
Audience Gate (Sung shih 18:12b).
On Apr.6, 1099, an Administrative Assistant of the Bureau of Mili-
tary Affairs and other Liao envoys were received at the Sung court and
given a banquet. They requested that the war against Hsia be halted
and presented a jade belt. Che-tsung sent envoys in response. On May
11, the Liao envoys were given another banquet. On June 11, they
returned to their court with the message that Sung was demobilizing
its troops (Sung shih 18:13a;Liao shih 26:4a; Hsü Tzu-chih t’ung-chien
ch’ang-pienpp.4742, 4757; Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 346:24b).
On Dec.13, 1099, two Sung envoys on a goodwill mission were
received at the Liao court (Liao shih 26:4b).
On Jan.16, 1100, Liao envoys arrived at the Sung court to con-
gratulate on the birthday of Che-tsung^204 (Hsü Tzu-chih t’ung-chien
ch’ang-pienp.4850).
