In the 8th month (Sep./Oct.) of 962, Jurchen presented a small boy
with hair on his nose to the Liao court (Liao shih 70:6a).
On Feb.22, 963, Jurchen envoys to the Sung court offered gifts.
On Sep.4, they offered fine horses, and on Oct.9 56 fine horses and
falcons (Sung shih 1:13b, 15b, 16a; Sung hui-yao kao, ts’e 196; Hsü Tzu-

furs (Sung hui-yao kao, ts’e 196).

In the 12th month (Dec./Jan., 974) of the Chinese year 973, Jurchen
envoys to the Sung court offered gifts (Hsü Tzu-chih t’ung-chien ch’ang-
pien p.120).
On Jan.26, 977, Jurchen envoys to the Liao court offered gifts. On
June 18, 21 Jurchen requested that the Liao emperor confer honourary
offices on them. These were granted, to each in accordance with his
rank. On Nov.28, Jurchen envoys offered gifts (Liao shih 9:1a, 1b).
On May 24, 978, Jurchen envoys to the Liao court offered gifts
(Liao shih 9:1b).
On Apr.11, 979, Jurchen envoys to the Liao court offered gifts
(Liao shih 9:2b).
In the 11th month (December) of 981, Jurchen envoys to the Sung
court offered gifts (Sung shih 4:15a).
In the 9th month (Oct./Nov.) of 985, a Jurchen chief offered gifts
to the Liao court (Liao shih 70:8a).
In 987, a Jurchen envoy arrived by sea en route to the Sung court
