Nong Khae – Lopburi – 80 km
I took far too many pictures during the ride to Lopburi. It was a
brilliant ride, partly along the railway line and partly next to a canal.
Lopburi is an ancient town filled with old ruins that are all within easy
walking distance. Nowadays, the old city is home to ordinary Thai life
and a group of monkeys, who even have a temple of their own.
I'm glad that I arrived early as it was pretty warm (35°C). The $
room that I rented wasn't very fancy, but it had a fan, which was
good enough for me. I felt like all I did was eat since I arrived, but
there are so many good food options in Lopburi.
There's much to see in Lopburi and I decided to stay one more day.
The windows of my room couldn’t open, as the monkeys were
notorious for breaking into rooms through the windows despite
having bars on them. They can be quite a menace. The rest of the
day was spent exploring the ruins of Lopburi.
