involvement and dedication
have notably advanced the
development and promotion
of university sport in Europe.
This year, the EUSA Executive
Committee has granted two
Orders of Merit.
The first award, recognizing
long-term involvement and
contributions to the development
of university sports, was
given to Ants Veetousme. The
second award was presented
posthumously to Yevgeniy
Imas in acknowledgment of his
outstanding contributions to
university sports.
The next award presented
during the 25th-Anniversary
celebration was dedicated to
the National University Sports
Association for its outstanding
contributions to the development
of university sports and its fruitful
collaboration over the years. The
award was accepted by Daniel
Studer and Lorenz Ursprung,
the Co-Presidents of Swiss
University Sports.
In recognition of its longstanding
partnership and significant role
in advancing university sports,
EUSA awarded the European
Handball Federation. The award
was presented to Michael
Wiederer, the President of the
European Handball Federation.
The final award of the evening
was the EUSA Honorary Member
Award, which is given to an
individual whose involvement
and commitment have made a
significant impact on the growth
and promotion of university
sports in Europe.
Peter George, an Honorary
Member of EUSA, was honored
for his invaluable contributions
to the development of university
sports, which began in 1991. He
played a key role in the inaugural
European Universities Basketball
Championship in 2001 and
has been directly involved in
numerous EUSA Championships
and Games over the years.
After the awards were presented
to the recipients, the Gala
Dinner continued with musical
performances, dining, and
opportunities for socializing.
The night concluded with a
final celebratory gesture: a gift
exchange that marked the end of
the celebration commemorating
25 years of hard work and
success of the European
University Sports Association.
In recognition of long-standing
cooperation and support, and
with hopes for many more years
of success and great work,
EUSA received gifts from its
partners and members. The
awards were presented on behalf
of the following organizations:
the International University
Sports Federation (FISU), FISU
Oceania, the European Olympic
Committees, the Lithuanian
Students’ Sports Association, the
University Sports Association of
Poland, the Croatian Academic
Sports Federation, the Armenian
Student Sports Federation,
