UNIVERSITY SPORTS (FASU)
As every year, the round up for 2024 in FASU was equally
eventful and lively as before. Having a lot of important
events, celebrating university sport, and developing it each
year more and more, FASU has especially been proud of
several highlighted events.
6 th AFRO-VARSITY
3X3 BASKETBALL
CHALLENGE
The 6th Afro-Varsity 3x3
Basketball Challenge, held in
Kampala, Uganda from 27th –
28 th July 2024 acted as Africa’s
qualifying tournament for the
FISU University World Cup 3x3
Basketball, bringing together
13 men’s teams and 11 women’s
teams from Seven countries.
Participating Countries were
Uganda, Kenya, Egypt, Rwanda,
Ghana, Burundi, and Nigeria.
This event provided an exciting
platform for athletes to showcase
their skills and compete for slots
at the FISU University World Cup
3x3 Basketball – Xiamen, China |
22 nd – 24th November 2024.
The competition brought together
139 participants, including
58 male athletes, 47 female
athletes, and 34 officials. Teams
represented four key zones
of Africa—Northern, Western,
Southern, and Eastern Africa.
FASU will be represented by four
teams at the prestigious 2024
FISU University World Cup 3x3
Basketball in Xiamen, China.
11 th FASU GAMES – Lagos,
Nigeria 20th – 29th September
2024
The 11th All Africa University
Games, the flagship and premier
FASU event, was co-hosted
by the University of Lagos
and Lagos State University in
Nigeria. For 10 action-packed
days, the Games featured an
impressive 2000+ participants
from 60 universities and 13
countries, competing in 12 sports
disciplines in both men’s and
women’s categories, including
Athletics, Badminton, Basketball,
Chess Football, Handball, Judo,
