EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES GAMES

DEBRECEN-MISKOLC 2024

Hungary was the go-to country for the 7th edition of the European Universities

Games 2024. Being hosted in two cities, Debrecen and Miskolc, this event

represented the largest university multi-sport event in Europe this year.

cooperation with the local
Organising Committee, including
University of Miskolc, University
of Debrecen, City of Miskolc,
Hungarian University Sports
Federation (MEFS) supported
by key partners, prepared a
memorable event, offering 17
sports, educational, social and
cultural activities.

Over 6000 people were directly
engaged in the event, recording
4503 participants, representing

400 universities from 36

countries. Over 800 volunteers,

from which around 180 of them

were international, contributed

to the success of the event, and

other key people making the

event a reality were members of

the Organising Committee, EUSA

representatives and staff, as well

as a strong delegation of referees

and judges, many of them

nominated through European

sport governing bodies.

The European Universities

Games in Debrecen and Miskolc,

represented the largest multi-

sport event in Europe for the year

of 2024. The biannual event,

started with the official Opening

Ceremony held at Miskolc’s

DVTK Arena on July 12 with the

presence of the representatives

of the highest authorities of

the host country, European

University Sports Association

(EUSA), VIPs, officials, athletes,

and citizens of Miskolc.

During the vibrant Opening

Ceremony, a lively atmosphere

filled the venue as athletes,

officials, dedicated volunteers,

and esteemed guests gathered

to celebrate the momentous

occasion. The event kicked

off with heartfelt welcoming

speeches that resonated with

enthusiasm, complemented by

captivating music performances

and engaging audio-visual

displays. A breathtaking

march pass unfolded before

the audience, showcasing

approximately 3,700 athletes

and officials, each proudly

representing their respective

universities and embodying
