Table Tennis highlighted the
Games’ dedication to inclusivity,

environment, where athletes from
all backgrounds can shine on the
international stage.
Beyond the exhilarating sports
competitions, the Games
offered an extensive variety
of educational, cultural, and
social activities designed to
enrich the experience of all
participants. Throughout July,
numerous engaging educational
events took place, including
enlightening conferences
focused on volunteering,
workshops aimed at developing
social skills, discussions on the
principles of fair play, mental
health awareness, dual career
pathways, and a suite of fun
and educational activities
that ensured a well-rounded
experience for every attendee.
The Games have also
emphasised education,
with EUSA Forum held in
Debrecen, on the topic of
“Synergies in university sports
development”.

After an exhilarating 15
days brimming with athletic
competition, joy, and emotional
highs, punctuated by the thrill of
winning medals, forming lifelong
friendships, and sharing both
minor and monumental victories,
the grand event culminated in a
spectacular closing ceremony.
This memorable occasion took
place on Wednesday, July 24,
at the impressive Nagyerdei
Stadium in Debrecen.
The Closing Ceremony attracted
an esteemed gathering of
officials, including high-
ranking representatives from
regional governments, city
municipalities, and university
sports organizations. The
event showcased breathtaking
highlights from each of the 17
sports, along with one inclusive
sport featured during the 2024
Games. Attendees were treated
to a captivating preview of what
awaits at the next European
Universities Games, set to unfold
in 2026 in the picturesque city
of Salerno, promising even more
unforgettable experiences and
thrilling competitions.
In the closing speech, EUSA
President Adam Roczek, thanked
all the present athletes, officials,
the members of the organizing
committee and officially declared
the Games concluded.
The Closing Ceremony, like
the Opening Ceremony, was
filled with emotions and new
beginnings. It included many
messages of thanks and happy
faces. The audience enjoyed
heartfelt speeches and great
impressions. They also watched
a well-made audio-visual
presentation that showcased all
the sports featured in the Games.
As the vibrant flag of the
European University Sports
Association (EUSA) was
ceremoniously dehoisted,
it symbolized the end of an
exhilarating chapter in the
European Universities Games.
With great reverence, the
flag was handed over to the
enthusiastic next organizers
who are set to host the Games
in Salerno in 2026. The Closing
Ceremony, filled with applause
and celebration, marked a
moment of unity and sport that
brought together athletes from
across the continent.
The European Universities
Games, hosted in the cities of
Miskolc and Debrecen, were
executed under the esteemed
license of EUSA by the diligent
collaboration of the University
of Miskolc, the University of
Debrecen, and the city of
Miskolc. This remarkable event
was bolstered by the efforts of
the EUSA Institute along with
numerous partners, ranging
from the Ministry of Education
and Science to various national
and local tourism entities, sports
organizations, and media outlets.
Additionally, the Games received
vital support from the Erasmus+
Programme of the European
Union and the International
University Sports Federation
(FISU), which helped foster
the spirit of camaraderie and
excellence that epitomizes
university sports across Europe.
