Student-athletes from 16 men’s
teams and 9 women’s teams
were part of the Football
competition, showcasing great
talent and strong will to score
goals and celebrate victories.

After seven days of spectacular
action, the title of champion
in the men’s competition was
awarded to the State University
of Trade and Economics (UKR),
who won a thrilling final match
against the defending champion,
the University of Wurzburg
(GER), with a final score of 2-0.
Hungary’s University of Debrecen
took the bronze medal with a 5-3

victory over Germany’s Karlsruhe
Institute of Technology.

The female athletes from the
University of Wurzburg (GER),
won against the Polytechnic
University of Hauts-de-France
(FRA) by a score of 4-2 in the
women’s final match, after
overtime. The University of
Rennes (FRA) finished third
after defeating the University of
Valencia (ESP) by a score of 7-6,
and the bronze medalist team
became the University of Rennes
(FRA).

In total, 476 participants representing 23 universities from


16 countries took part in the Football competition during the


European Universities Games held in Debrecen, Hungary.
