Having athletes compete in
this sport brought great joy and
once again was a great proof of
inclusion and access to sport for
everyone.
This year, Para Table Tennis
has welcomed 8 male student-
athletes representing 8 different
universities from 4 countries.
The two-day competition brought
new medalists and results among
the athletes. In classes 6-8, the top
3 positions were taken by Edgar
Empis from Tourelles Institute
(FRA) winning the gold medal,
Jaiden Calderia from Northeastern
University (GBR) winning the silver
medal, and the bronze medal
going to Kamil Kamil Kowalski from
the University School of Physical
Education in Krakow (POL).
In the classes 9-10, Maximillian
Flint from Loughborough
University (GBR) won the gold
medal, while Shae Thakker from
University of Sheffield (GBR) won
the silver medal. Gevorg Beglaryan
from Armenian State Institute of
Physical Culture and Sport (ARM)
was the winner of the bronze
medal in the competition.
Para Table Tennis athletes once again had the opportunity to
shine at the European Universities Games in Debrecen- Miskolc,
in 2024. Since its introduction in Zagreb (2016), the sport has
provided a platform for talented players at the Games, with
previous competitions held in Zagreb-Rijeka, Coimbra and Lodz.
