Following the draw, the general
overview of activities and
office report were presented by
EUSA Secretary General Matjaz
Pecovnik, highlighting the main
achievements of the organisation
in the past period, pointing out
the successful year of 2023 for
EUSA and the fully packed event
calendar for 2024, which will see
the European Universities Games
2024 in Debrecen-Miskolc and
the 25th Anniversary Gala in
Vienna as its peak appointments.


An overview of the financial
report, provisional budget
2023-2024 and details about the
EUSA Development Fund 2024
were then presented by EUSA
Treasurer Francis Cirianni.


On behalf of the Sports
Department, EUSA Sports
Manager Miha Zvan reported
on the successful first
European Universities Winter
Championships edition,
starting up the agenda. Mr
Zvan presented the progress
report on the upcoming
European Universities Rowing
Championship 2024, to be held
in Ankara, the report for the
2025 season of the European
Universities Championship
and the provisional plan for the
2027 edition, followed by the


attribution by the EC of the 2027
EUCs to the new hosts.

Projects and initiatives co-
funded by the European Union
(EU) through the Erasmus+
Programme and European
Solidarity Corps (ESC) were
presented by EUSA Projects
and Policy Manager, Andrej Pisl.
EUSA is engaged in several
projects and, through its Institute
currently leads several EU-
funded projects on the topic of
good governance, dual career,
mental health, and volunteering.

The EC meeting was then
wrapped up with progress
reports on important upcoming
conferences and meetings, as
well as the status of the EUSA
Associated Members, which
reached the 100-milestone
number during the occasion.

The second Executive Committee
meeting was held in Vienna,
Austria, leading into the EUSA
Conference and 25th Anniversary
Gala. Hosted by the Austrian
University Sports Organisation,
the gathering reflected on EUSA’s
historic ties to Vienna, where

the organization was founded in
1999.

President Adam Roczek
expressed gratitude to the
hosts, presenting a token
of appreciation to Austrian
University Sports Organisation
President Hemma Angerer.

The Vienna meeting reviewed
EUSA’s accomplishments,
particularly the success of the 7th
EUG in Debrecen-Miskolc.

Secretary General Matjaz
Pecovnik outlined progress
on EUSA’s long-term event
calendar, financial stability, and
achievements in EU projects.

On behalf of the Sports
Department, EUSA Sports
Manager Miha Zvan and EUSA
Event Manager Liam Smith
presented a series of reports,
starting with the successful
European Universities Rowing
Championship Zagreb 2024 and
the calendar of next summer’s
Championships, along with their
attributions, progress reports,
and inspection visits. They also
covered the extensive EUG 2024,
highlighting its key moments,
challenges, valuable lessons
learned, and lasting legacies.

Education and development
initiatives were presented by
Education and Development
Manager Sara Rozman, focusing
on the educational activities
linked to EUG 2024, including
the EUSA-FISU Seminar and
upcoming conferences.

Andrej Pisl, EU Projects and
Policy Manager, highlighted
EU co-funded projects such
as DiscoverU and YouMind,
showcasing their impact on youth
mobility and career development.

Internal matters, including reports
from EUSA commissions and
statutory working groups, were
also discussed.

A notable highlight was the
unveiling of a new branding
initiative, underscoring EUSA’s
commitment to modernization
and growth.

The Vienna meeting set the
stage for the following day’s
celebrations, where EUSA
members gathered for the
EUSA Conference and a gala
dinner marking the association’s
25 th anniversary—a milestone
reflecting its ongoing dedication
to university sports in Europe.
