062 Cycle Touring South Korea

(Leana) #1

(^36) Busan was the second-largest city in South Korea, and it had an
extensive metro system. I ventured underground to explore the
famous Buddhist temples on the city's outskirts, which were tranquil
and peaceful. The temples in South Korea seemed to have a green
tone instead of the red hue found in China.
As always, the temples were adorned by the four Heavenly Kings, or
gods, each watching over a different direction of the world. They were
the protectors of the world and fighters against evil. While wandering
around, I chatted with a small tour group, and they kindly offered me
a ride to the metro when we departed.
In the city, numerous food stalls sprang up, offering a large variety of
dishes to choose from. After having my fill, I returned to the hostel to
organize my belongings for the long flight to Seattle, USA via Beijing.
From Seattle, my plan was to ride south to San Francisco. The
prevailing wind and already having a visa to the USA were the main
reasons for this decision.
