Capital City
Washington, D.C, is the capital of the USA. New York City, however, is the largest city
and was the capital of the United States from 1785 to 1790.

Currency
The official currency of the United States is called the US dollar, also known as the
United States dollar or American dollar. It is abbreviated as US$. One dollar is dividedinto 100 cents or 1000 mills.
Language
The United States does not have an official language. The most commonly usedlanguage is English, also known as American English, which is the de facto national
language. Many other languages are also spoken, including Spanish and several
indigenous languages.
Religion
The United States has no official state-endorsed religion; however, Christianity is the
most widely practiced. Freedom of religion is guaranteed in the First Amendment of
the United States Constitution.

Location and size
Situated in the centre of the North American continent, the USA is the largest of the
47 countries occupying this continent, entirely located in the northern hemisphere.
The United States is the fourth-largest country in the world. Its total area, including
Alaska and Hawaii, is 9,629,091 sq km. The conterminous United States extends4,662 km ENE—WSW and 4,583 km SSE–NNW. It’s bordered on the N by Canada, on
the E by the Atlantic Ocean, on the S by the Gulf of Mexico and Mexico, and on the W
by the Pacific Ocean. Alaska, the 49th state, spans 3,639 km east and west, and
2,185 km north and south.

Population
The current population of the USA is 332,000,000, and the population density in the
United States is 36 people per Square Kilometre.
